Members of the Center on the Biology of Aging belong to many academic units throughout Brown and affiliated hospitals. Our research is directed towards understanding the fundamental mechanisms of aging.

Major conceptual areas pursued by our faculty include:

  • genetic pathways of longevity
  • endocrine regulation of longevity
  • skeletal aging
  • epigenetics
  • genome stability
  • neurodegenerative diseases
  • cellular aging

We use many experimental model systems, including human cell culture, mice, rabbits, fruit flies, and the nematode worm.
